A model just changed in the shared folder.
Someone on your taskbar who reads IFC.
The AEC add-on for Roostling, for building design and construction teams. Turn it on in Settings → Add-ons.
Windows first,
with the add-on included
Drop a model on them.
Drop an IFC model on a character and they offer three things.
- Summary
- A card with the schema, the app it came from and its date, the project, the storeys, and how many of each kind of element there are.
- Fragments
- Converts it with That Open Company's Fragments into a
.fragfile next to the model, while the character shows how far it has got. - View
- Opens it in the model viewer.
Both run in a process of their own that ends when done, so Roostling stays light.
A viewer that gives its memory back.
IFC and .frag files, one or several, open in a window of their own.
- Turn the models with the mouse, and click an element for its properties.
- Hide models or storeys, and cut a section at any height.
- Bring in more with Add…, or by dropping files on the window.
- Models from the same project line up by their coordinates.
- An IFC is converted to
.fragfirst, or its.fragis used when that is newer.
The viewer runs as a separate process on the graphics card. Closing it gives all its memory back.
Issues become reminders.
Drop a .bcf or .bcfzip file and choose Add issues.
- Each open issue with a due date becomes a reminder at 09:00 that day.
- One that is already late comes two minutes after adding.
- With your name or email in Settings, only issues assigned to you are added.
- Drop the same file again later to bring them up to date. Closed issues go.
They watch the shared folder.
Pick a folder in Settings and they look through it every minute.
- A model or drawing that is new or changed comes as a card with Open, once it has finished copying.
- With the name check on, the card also says when a name does not follow ISO 19650: seven parts joined by hyphens, like
PRJ-ABC-VL01-ZZ-ME-M3-0001, which may end with a status and a revision, like-S2-P01.
A week of coordination, in one pack.
BIM work is a ready-made pack in Settings → Reminders. Give each one a link to the model, the folder or the meeting, and Open on the card goes straight there.
| Reminder | When | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Sync with central | Every 60 minutes on weekdays | Clerk |

Save your own as a pack file to share with the team. A link in a shared pack can never open a program or a script.
Bring one to the office.
